the other side, by bishop james pike. i bought it on 50% day off at salvation army. it's about the psychedelic drug movement in the 1960's, and how they're may be a correlation to the 'other side'...oooo aaaah!

Definitely the Ramayana -- William Buck version.
Favorite read of the year so far, definitely.
Last book I read was Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell. It was alright.
Top recommendations:
Peace Like a River - Leif Enger
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
How Green Was My Valley - Richard Llewellyn
Life of Pi - Yann Martel
Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko
Powerful novel, it is based on a young American Indian in the Laguna tribe. The de-centering of a nation and a culture, the effects of war. I loved it. And I have a copy if you so desire. If you have the time, and it doesn't take long, The Old Man and the Sea always brings it. Hmm...a play for good measure, A Long Days Journey into Night, by Eugene O'neill. Breaks my heart a thousand times. And how about Sinclair Lewis? You just might like it. Poetry, Margaret Atwood...William Carlos Williams. If you have never read The Wasteland I think you would appreciate it. I'm taking this too far. My apologies.
And "word up" to Hunger Games. What fun.
you can't go wrong with susan collins. Hunger Games is like Lord of The Flies but very modern.
Ian Fleming is always great to, and no one can live up to him, no matter who tries to follow suit.
It was not my last book but one of my favorite books... Wild at Heart by John Eldredge.
"The Boat" a collection of short stories by Nam Le.
The writing is out of this world.
i just read two really awesome books.
the tale of edgar sawtelle
and
a fraction of a whole by steve toltz
I just found your blog through lea bolvig - your photos are beautiful!
I recently read "PopCo" by Scarlett Thomas, and I recommend it very much!
How about The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie? It was delightful. I even blogged a review several weeks ago. I hope this helps!
I would recommend all three: http://talkingtovolcano.blogspot.com/2009/11/currently-reading.html
:)
East of Eden- J. Steinbeck
I would recommend God Lives in Saint Petersburg by Tom Bissell.
You should read "Fugitive Pieces" by Anne Michaels.
It's the best book I have read ...possibly ever...
I am giving it to my sisters for christmas and gave away my two copies to other people for them to read it.
I would recommend The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. He is a wonderful author. This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I have now read five books by him!
