we got new bikes and did some custom paint jobs.
(the old ones were stolen on halloween)
things rust here within a couple weeks

any tips on taking photos outside in bright light like this? ..
i have a hard time with it.
iso, shutter speed, aperture, any tricks?

these photos are from today.
studying outside and ended up in the exact same spot as the other photo of katie below

Play with a faster shutter speed. Sometimes I go crazy and shoot it super fast just to get a read and then gently make it slower and slower til i find a happy medium.

so i thought i should let you know that i added you to my blog list (feeling flattered, aren't you) because i am in love with your photos...oh you are just my current inspiration. i'm dying for some money to lay around so i can spend it all on a real camera...
hope you're coming home for christmas!

It looks like you manage to take very good photos anyway! Sometimes it's just good to just play around with the camera until you find the right settings.
as you probably know already:)

I love the first and the last picture.
It looks like you have no problem with light!
But anyway, what I do when I have too much light is select a higher aperture number and/or accelerate the shutter speed.

need tricks huh.
Always freaking keep the ISO low, as low as possible.

unless you're using Manual mode, I think all you have to worry about is the aperture(the depth of field you project to create) when using Av mode, the camera will do it's job controlling the shutter speed for you.

btw on white subjects, especially when outside under the sun, overexpose it by 1/3 EV.

Spot metering is also recommend.

they are still good pics. High light use low iso..200 or lower if your camera does..mine goes to 80...at night increase the iso...mine goes to 3200...but as you incease the iso anything past 800 you start to get grain in the picture..thats normal and can be fixed in photoshop....and of course..play with shutter speed.

i don't really like taking photos in bright sunlight - too much contrast. i think you did pretty well though! my favorite being the first and last photo. btw. thanks for your most recent comment - i feel really lucky to have all these historical buildings available to me in copenhagen. being inside old historic buildings almost makes the past tangible or at least more vivid i think..congratulations on your "new" bikes, being bike-less can be very depressing : )
